2003 Quality of Life Award
Judith Yaworsky
& Jim Watson
Judith Yaworsky - A firm believer in Sir
Winston Churchill's belief that "you earn a living by
what you do and earn a life by what you give"... Judith
has been a very active community volunteer. She acts
as the volunteer president of Sandrine's Gift of Life, a
national organ and tissue donor awareness campaign which she
conceived and got off the ground. She also has been a
volunteer with United Way and Children's Hospital of Eastern
Ontario, Women's Business Network of Ottawa, company of
Young Canadians and Canada's Domestic Peace Corps.
Judith also received the Order of St. John and the Ottawa
Centre Canadian Leadership Award for her "outstanding
contribution to the Ottawa community".
Jim Watson - "Community is often more
about how we live, then where we live", says Jim.
As Deputy Mayor in 1992, the first thing that Jim did was
donate money to many organizations within our
community. As an active member of our community, he
has served on boards such as: Riverside Hospital, the
National Arts Centre and Christmas Exchange of Ottawa,
etc. He also served as chair of the United Way 2002
Campaign. Jim was also recipient of Carleton
University Honours Award, the City of Ottawa highest Civic
Honour the Key to the City and in 2002, the Queen's Golden
Jubilee Medal.
