Debbie O'Brien - 1st Quality of Life Award recipient

Debbie is a firm believer in giving back to her community. Debbie worked tirelessly with St. Vincent Capital Campaign as Co-Chair in raising much needed funding for their major renovations. She now serves as Chair of the SCO Foundation, a Board Member for the Brockville General Hospital Foundation and Director of the Don & Shirley Green Family Foundation. Debbie has been a strong supporter of St. Joe’s Women’s Centre and truly believes in our philosophy. Debbie is an avid golfer and Ottawa Senators fan.

Sr. Véronique Belcourt - 2nd Quality of Life Award recipient

Sr. Véronique has trained at the old General Hospital in Ottawa in the records administration, working her way up to departmental head of Records Administration at St. Vincent Hospital.  She was also a teacher at the Elementary, High School and College level, in Montreal, Northern Alberta and Algonquin College.  Her community opened a home for unwed mothers in the Plantagenet area, where she volunteered for 10 years.  She also spent thirteen years as a volunteer at the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Detention Centre, befriending, women who ran afoul with the law and for the past 12 years a volunteer at St. Joe’s Women’s Centre.

Michelle Valberg - 3rd Quality of Life Award recipient

Michelle has been photographing in Canada for over 19 years and is renowned for her portrait work, creative landscapes and her unique ability to capture the very soul of her subjects. Michelle has been recognized twice by the YMCA/YWCA Women of Distinction Awards for Businesswomen of the Year and in the Arts category. She also received the 40 Under 40 Award and Algonquin College awarded her as Alumna of the Year for 2005. She has self published two Canadian books that raised money for Ottawa based charities.

Over the years, Michelle has contributed her talents and creativity to countless charitable initiatives including St. Joe’s Women’s Centre, CHEO, The Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Ottawa Heart Institute, The Humane Society, Saint-Vincent Hospital and Elisabeth Bruyere to name a few. She is a board member of the CHEO Foundation, SCO Health Services Foundation and she Co-Chairs the Capital Talk Committee.
