Gender and Age
Policy
In order to
foster a safe and comfortable environment for our clients,
St. Joe's Women's Centre adheres to the following policy
regarding the gender and age of our clients:
-
The Centre serves women 18 years of age
and over;
-
Younger females must be accompanied by a
parent or legal guardian; and
-
Males are welcomed with a parent up to
and including their 14th birthday.
Crisis Procedure
When a crisis
arises:
-
The senior staff member who is
physically closest to the 'Critical Individual' will
attend;
-
The next physically closest staff
will become a 'Silent Support' person standing in visual
proximity, ready to receive direction from the staff who
is dealing with the 'Critical Individual';
-
Remaining staff and volunteers
will assist "Non-Involved Clients" in
relocating to a safer place; and,
-
Should the 'Critical
Individual' leave the Centre, the outside door will be
locked until police attend.
The
Centre maintains a comprehensive policy, with consequences,
regarding verbal abuse, verbal aggression, physical abuse,
physical aggression, intoxication and the consequences of
these actions on a cumulative incident basis. More
information about these policies can be obtained by
contacting the Centre.
