Student Placement Opportunities
The
Centre works in partnership with local educational institutions
(e.g.: Algonquin College, Carleton University, and local
High Schools) to provide co-op students and student placements.
Each co-op or placement is three to eight months in duration.
Student co-ops and placements can be a wonderful learning
opportunity for students considering a career in some of
the following fields: social work, law enforcement, professional
councelling, and health care.
St.
Joe's Women's Centre provides a comprehensive training program
for all student volunteers which will teach you how to deal
with issues such as mental illness, crisis intervention, directing
workshops, and maintaining personal boundaries. Staff
at the centre also assist in completion of the evalualtions
of each student's performance as mandated by the educational
institution.
